AXE may have gotten itself into a smelly situation.

The men's grooming products company was accused of stealing content from the "Shower Thoughts" subreddit for its latest ad campaign.

"AXE is jacking our shower thoughts and not giving credit. Literally word for word," a thread that sat at the top of Reddit on Thursday morning said, according to The Washington Post.

The ad, which features 5-foot-3 former NBA player Tyrone "Muggsy" Bogues, had over 18,000 "dislikes" as of Monday.

However, AXE released a second ad Thursday morning that does not include content from Reddit, the Post said. That ad, which features YouTube personality Chester See, had just 44 "likes" and 482 "dislikes."

Unilever, which owns AXE, did not respond to CNBC's request for comment.
