SunEdison shares fall amid bankruptcy fears

Shares of SunEdison closed 7 percent lower Monday as investors digested a possible bankruptcy for the solar energy firm.

On Friday, Reuters cited a person familiar with the matter saying SunEdison was preparing to file for bankruptcy .

The company declined CNBC's request for comment.

David Einhorn's Greenlight Capital and Vanguard Group are among the largest SunEdison shareholders.

SunEdison's stock has fallen sharply this year, losing 93 percent of its value. In the last 12 months, the firm's shares are down over 98 percent.
