Shooting reported near White House

A shooting occurred near the White House on Friday afternoon, NBC reported.

The situation was deemed over soon after the initial reports, with preliminary info saying there was a single male shot in the chest. Initial reports said that the individual approached a White House guard post one block from the facility, brandished a weapon, and then refused an order to put down his gun.

Early reports suggested that the man was shot by a Secret Service officer.
