Prime Minister David Cameron said on Thursday that if Britain were not already a member of the European Union, he would apply to join today on the country's present terms, but he would never adopt the euro currency.

"I would never want us to join the euro...(but) if we were offered British terms, what we have now, with my renegotiation, the special status we have now, I would join (the EU)," Cameron said, answering questions from the public at a Sky News event.
