Investors expecting a breakout rally in stocks from here may be disappointed, if history is any guide.

The S&P 500 rose to a new all-time high Monday as second-quarter earnings season kicked off with Alcoa's results after the bell.

Using Kensho, a hedge fund analytics tool, we looked for what happened to the market one month after the second-quarter earnings season began.

The answer? Not much. But there are some stocks that thrive during this seasonal period.
