New Yorkers were frustrated early Wednesday afternoon as several subway lines faced massive delays due to power issues.

NBC New York reported that the MTA had to switch to a backup power system after an outage around 1:15 p.m. ET caused the delays.

Train service resumed shortly before 2 p.m. ET with ongoing delays.

Later, the MTA said that the delays were due to a electrical problem at the rail control center in Manhattan, according to NBC New York.
