MA ON ELECTRONIC WORLD TRADE PLATFORM (EWTP)

We have to improve the globalization. Now, this period is called the growing pains of globalization. The last 20 years globalization was helping big companies, develop nations. So if we can figure out a way to help small business, help young people. Help young people to globalize, that's something that we came up with the idea of EWTP.

MA ON INVESTOR COMMUNICATION

When people focus too much on the GMV and then they forget that we have a much bigger business on the financing, we have a much bigger business on cloud computing, we have a much bigger business on the entertainment side. So, I think, in the past two years, we are learning how to communicate with investors…We are so popular in China, we are such a big household name in China. But investors in the states, they don't know anything about us.

MA ON ANTI CHINA RHETORIC

I'm 52 years old now and I've seen a lot of American presidential elections. And every time before the elections, there always anti-China. Many years ago, anti-Soviet Union, now anti-China. We understand, its elections, right? I think after election people will calm down. Trade is a trade, business is a business. World economy, we are a society, we have to balance…I don't worry about it, I think after election, people will go back to their sense and they will start to do it.

MA ON COMPANY'S FUTURE GROWTH

We say we are infrastructure of commerce in China. We have already gone from e-commerce, to commerce. So we are giving up the e-commerce platform so every small business can buy and sell. This is our e-commerce. So the second thing we are building up is e-financing. We are giving loans and giving financial support, inclusive financing, to everybody in China. We have more than, you know, half a billion people using our Alipay and financing. And we also build logistics centers. Logistic service that business in the future – you want to use cheap and official logistics system.
