CNN on Wednesday denied reports that it suspended contributor Corey Lewandowski, Donald Trump's former campaign manager.

Mediaite reported that the cable network suspended Lewandowski after it discovered that the Trump campaign was still paying him separately from his severance package. But CNN later denied the report to NBC News, saying it had not suspended him.

The Trump campaign reported paying $20,000 to Lewandowski's Green Monster Consulting in July and August for "strategy consulting," according to Federal Election Commission filings.

The cable network hired him in June, shortly after the campaign let him go. It had received criticism for having Lewandowski on its air while he received severance from the campaign.

In a statement to Mediaite, a Trump campaign spokeswoman said Lewandowski receives monthly severance payments which "are in no way compensation for services rendered."
