The new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released Wednesday showed Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin received the highest negative ratings of various officials and institutions. The pair of political figures narrowly beat out the news media, which trailed Putin by 7 points behind Putin and Trump by 2 points in unfavorable ratings.
The national poll showed that views of Trump have grown slightly less favorable since May, while views of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton have grown slightly better during the same period. Clinton had the fourth-worst negative rating, as 52 percent of respondents had an unfavorable view of her.
The country of Canada received the highest favorable rating on the entire list with 75 percent of respondent having a positive view. Only 3 percent had a negative view of America's northern neighbor.
The telephone poll of 1,000 registered voters, conducted Sept. 16-19, carries a margin for error of 3.1 percentage points. Among the 922 respondents deemed "likely voters," the margin for error is 3.23 percentage points.
