In a post-debate interview, Donald Trump's campaign manager Kellyanne Conway said she would stick with the Trump campaign "until the bitter end, unless," then paused.
In the interview, MSNBC's Chris Matthews immediately asked "unless what?" Conway whispered "who knows?" then said, "I'm sitting here as his campaign manager."
The cliffhanger quote was left unanswered for several minutes.
Conway later returned to the show and clarified her remarks: "The 'unless' is very simple — unless someone in my household needs me or unless something changes in my own life."
The Trump campaign experienced backlash after a leaked 2005 recording captured him boasting about groping women. At the debate, Trumpapologized about the crude remarks, and dismissed it as "locker room talk." An array of Republicans, including Jack Welch and Sen. John McCain, have withdrawn their support.
