Trump and GOP raise $100 million in September, but trail Clinton in cash race

Donald Trump and his joint efforts with the Republican Party raised $100 million in September, his campaign said in a statement Saturday.

The Republican presidential candidate's campaign committee and two joint fundraising committees ended the month with about $75 million combined on hand.

Trump's rival Hillary Clinton earlier this month said that her campaign committee and the Democratic Party raised about $154 million in September. She and her joint fundraising committees had $150 million on hand entering October, double Trump's cash pile.

Those figures do not show whether the campaign has run into fundraising troubles this month amid sexual assault allegations and many Republicans' concerns about Trump's treatment of women. Trump has vehemently denied those accusations and in recent days and claimed that the election is "rigged" against him.

In its statement, the campaign said Trump gave another $2 million to his election effort in September. He has given more than $50 million himself.

A full report for September is due to the Federal Election Commission on Oct. 20.
