'Black Swan' author Taleb: Prepare for 'tail event' as market gets off Fed 'Novocaine'

"Black Swan" author Nassim Taleb discussed his market views, the election, bitcoin and potential future tail risks in an interview Thursday on CNBC's "Power Lunch."

"It's absolutely necessary to be prepared for a tail event regardless of the election because the market has been on Novocaine since 2009 [due to the Fed's monetary policy]," Taleb said.

"I own some gold ... hard to have hedges in stocks ... reduce your portfolio," he said.

Taleb is an advisor to Universa Investments, an investment management firm that specializes in tail hedging.
