In this case, a picture truly is worth a thousand words. What's more, the amount it's worth in monetary terms! On December 2-3, Guernsey's will be holding an auction of "The Neil Leifer Photography Collection." The 700-lot event will be held live at New York City's Bohemian National Hall and is set to includes some of the most iconic photographs of all time. Leifer is known for many of the most memorable moments in sports history, but this collection will also consists of other highly regarded pieces from the 20th century.

"I would argue that this is probably the finest collection ever presented," says Guernsey's Auction House President, Arlan Ettinger. From the 'Marines Raise Flag at Iwo Jima,' to some of the most incredible Muhammad Ali knockouts, these collections are guaranteed to take you for a walk down memory lane.

Guernsey's Ettinger says, "Art is one of those categories that start out by bringing pleasure but, if chosen wisely, have often proven to be a strong investment. Although certainly not all categories of art, antiques and collectibles always increase in value, the track record of many such categories have traditionally gone up on value. In short it's like having your cake and eating it too."
