Starbucks debuts Fruitcake Frappuccino

What's old is new again at Starbucks.

The coffee giant is out with a new spin on a holiday gift closet staple: the fruitcake.

Its fruitcake Frappuccino will be available starting Thursday through the weekend at U.S. and Canada locations. The holiday drink consists of a hazelnut crème Frappuccino with dried fruit and cinnamon, topped with whipped cream, caramel, and matcha in the company's spin on the fruitcake, a holiday gift that's faced derision over the years.

Its timing comes just a day before National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day on Friday, when the company's loyalty members will receive an ugly sweater beverage cozy if they buy the fruitcake drink.

The holiday quarter is typically Starbucks' strongest as holiday drinks, such as the Pumpkin Spice Latte, and gifts fuel sales.
