We use a natural language processing algorithm to rank analysts based on two factors: Average return of buy-sell recommendations Success rate of buy-sell recommendations Here are five favorite conumer stocks from the best-performing analysts: Amazon ( AMZN )- In the last three months, this e-commerce giant has received 20 buy ratings and one hold rating from top Wall Street analysts. Five-star rated RBC Capital's Mark Mahaney reiterated his buy rating on March 10 while pointing out that voice-activated internet could generate $10 billion in revenue for Amazon by 2020. Amazon's voice assistant Alexa is available on a number of Amazon devices including its Echo and Tap Wi-Fi connected speakers. "It is very early days so while we see significant opportunity from the proliferation of Alexa, the financial impact also carries significant uncertainty," Mahaney wrote in an investor note. Dick's Sporting Goods ( DKS )- This leading sporting goods retailer has recently received a string of buy ratings from best-performing analysts. With an average analyst price target of $61, top analysts see significant upside from the current share price of around $48. Despite a fourth-quarter beat, weaker-than-expected 2017 guidance pushed the shares lower by more than 9 percent this year. Analysts have interpreted this sell-off as a buying opportunity. Citigroup's Kate McShane says expansion into under-penetrated markets and investment spend is putting more distance between Dick's Sporting Goods and its competitors. She reiterated her buy rating on March 8 with a $65 price target and the conclusion that the stock "remains compelling." Pricelinecom ( PCLN ) - With only buy ratings published on the stock in the last three months, this discount travel website is a favorite with analysts. On March 6, MKM Partners' Rob Sanderson reiterated his buy rating while raising the price target to $2,035 from $1,950 following the company's strong fourth-quarter report. He sees Priceline as the largest beneficiary in the fast-growing bookings sector with the best business model structure and expanding market share. Share prices have been climbing steadily over the past year to the current price of around $1,771 a share. According to the average price target of the best-performing analysts, prices could rise in the next 12 months to reach $1,884. FedEx ( FDX )- With a strong buy analyst consensus rating, global delivery service FedEx has received no recent hold or sell ratings. Citigroup's Christian Wetherbee is one of eight top analysts who have published buy ratings on the stock in the last three months. Wetherbee warns that consensus estimates are likely to fall ahead of FDX's fiscal third-quarter results later this month due to concerns about higher fuel prices and margin pressure on FedEx's Ground service. But he points out that, on the plus side, investor expectations are already lower than consensus. He maintained his $235 price target. According to TipRanks, the best-performing analysts, on average, see the stock at $218 in 12 months. The stock closed Thursday at $193.11. Costco ( COST ) - Based on top analyst ratings over the last three months, Costco has a strong buy analyst consensus rating. Four-star Christopher Horvers from JPMorgan reiterated his buy rating on March 3 with a bullish $190 price target. Horvers says he would buy any dip in the stock and that high-single-digit top-line growth "is coming our way," which is a rare achievement in the consumer staples and retail industry. The warehouse club giant has a best-performing analyst price target of $178. The stock closed Thursday at $167.06.
