Chase online banking system suffers some outages

JPMorgan Chase's online banking system suffered some outages Thursday evening.

Customers could log into the bank's website or app, but they are unable to transfer money or pay bills online. Most disturbingly, Chase shows "N/A," where the account balances should be.

A customer service representative said debit cards should still work for purchase transactions, but she noted that the bank's website and app were out of service for the service team, as well. The representative told CNBC to call back "in a few hours."

Chase later said: "We are currently working to restore access to our website, mobile app and automated telephone service."

Chase customers took to Twitter to vent their frustration.

@LAJay007 What's going on with Chase Bank? I can't get in online and the branches are closed?

@ClCarson Just spoke with a local representative in Chicago. Chase Bank, nationwide, has crashed. Borderline hysteria in my local branch.

@goldbaum_erin the Handmaid's Tale is not real...give us our money back. For real though...like I want to buy some coffee...
