Michael G. Trotsky, CFA is the Executive Director and Chief Investment Officer of the Massachusetts Pension Reserves Investment Management ("PRIM") Board, the entity responsible for investing the $59 billion Massachusetts pension fund, containing the assets of the Massachusetts Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement Systems, as well as the assets of participating municipal and county retirement systems. Michael's work at PRIM was preceded by a 25-year career in the private sector, most recently as Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager at PAR Capital Management, a Boston-based absolute return strategy fund. Before that, Michael was a Senior Analyst at Greenberg-Summit Partners in Boston, and before that he was a Principal and Senior Vice President at Independence Investment Associates (a John Hancock subsidiary), also in Boston. Michael began his professional career in 1985 as an engineer at the Intel Corporation in California. Michael is a recent appointee to the CFA Institute's Board of Governors, where he will begin serving as of September 1, 2014. He has also served as Chairman of the CFA Institute's Asset Manager Code of Professional Conduct Advisory Committee since 2012. Michael was also named to the 2013–2014 Board of Directors for the Boston Security Analysts Society. In addition, Michael is a member of the Boston Economics Club and serves on the Finance Committee for the Shady Hill School in Cambridge, MA. Michael received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Masters of Business Administration from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
