Democrat Susan Wild will beat Republican Marty Nothstein to win Pennsylvania's 7th District House seat, NBC News projects.
While the district had been represented by Republican Charlie Dent, redistricting opened up more left-tilting territory. This year, analysts rated it as leaning Democrat, and polling showed Wild with a steady lead.
Nothstein, a county commissioner, said he ran as a conservative outsider. Wild's policy positions were largely progressive, and she outraised her opponent 2 to 1 at the close of the election.
