London/Abu Dhabi/Singapore (Monday 12th April 2021) CNBC, the world's number one business and financial news network, today launched its newest franchise, Sustainable Future, giving its influential audience unparalleled and regular access to how the biggest businesses on the planet are accelerating their action to tackle climate change. The new franchise will sit across CNBC's award-winning TV, digital and social platforms as well as an all-new annual event: The Sustainable Future Forum.  To inform and shape the new franchise, CNBC has assembled an ESG Council, an elite group of business leaders who will share their unique insights into the challenges, opportunities and pathways to a sustainable future.

To launch the franchise, CNBC was today joined live by five of its 35 -strong council which includes Makoto Uchida, President and CEO, Nissan; Mark Schneider, CEO, Nestle; Jean-Pascal Tricoire, CEO, Schneider Electric; Michael O'Leary, Group CEO, Ryanair; Mario Greco, CEO, Zurich Insurance and Noel Quinn, CEO, HSBC, amongst others. As well as reporting across its live programming, CNBC also unveiled a new Sustainable Future feature show, a regular 30-minute conversation-based programme which aims to take a more in-depth look into the world of sustainability and business. The inaugural episode airs in Europe on Wednesday (14th April) at 23.00 CET, and sees Tania Bryer speak with the acclaimed actor and producer Robert Downey Jr about his new venture, The Footprint Coalition. In the spirit of the coalition, the President of the World Economic Forum, Børge Brende, joins the conversation to explain the Forum's belief that it's important all stakeholders are represented for us to achieve a truly Sustainable Future.

Patrick Allen, International Managing Editor, CNBC International said: "The sustainability and ESG dialogue is at an inflection point, over the last year climate talks have stalled and been reignited, while the socio-economic imbalances have been exposed and the strength of public, private partnerships has been tested. In response, CNBC is launching its very own Sustainable Future franchise. This is a global, cross-platform initiative that will bring together investors, executives and policy makers to exchange ideas, collaborate, innovate and restore lost momentum. It will specifically discuss how businesses and their shareholdes are striving for best ESG practices while driving returns."

In the build-up to the landmark COP26 conference, CNBC will convene the most powerful leaders in business at the inaugural Sustainable Future Forum to discuss and debate the future of sustainability as well as navigate the challenges and actions businesses and governments must take for a brighter, more sustainable future. More details about the event are expected to be released this summer.
