Here are Dan Loeb's latest stock moves, which propelled Third Point to a winning quarter

Dan Loeb's Third Point had a stellar quarter in which the hedge fund rallied by double digits while the broader market was only flat. The star manager made a slew of new stock picks during the period, according to a new regulatory filing. Third Point's flagship offshore fund returned 12.5% in the third quarter, bringing its 2021 gains to 29.5%, CNBC previously reported. During the same period, the S & P 500 eked out a 0.2% return, as fears of inflation and rising rates crept up. Loeb added a new stake worth $195 million in human resources management company Alight, the biggest new position in the third quarter, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing released Monday. Alight shares have gone up by double digits since the company went public in July through a SPAC merger with Foley Trasimene Acquisition Corp. Appaloosa Management's David Tepper also built a position in Alight last quarter. Loeb also took a stake in Activision Blizzard , buying about two million shares worth roughly $155 million, the filing revealed. Shares of the video game company have lost 24% this year after a 56% rally in 2020 amid the pandemic boom. The hedge funds' top 10 holdings stayed relatively the same in the third quarter. Upstart Holdings and SentinelOne remained Loeb's latest two bets by far. Third Point was an early investor in Upstart and has held the stock since the IPO. The artificial intelligence lending company skyrocketed nearly 470% this year after making its market debut in December 2020. Upstart recently raised its full-year revenue estimates by 25% in its latest earnings report. SentinelOne debuted in June on the New York Stock Exchange as highest-valued cybersecurity IPO ever. Shares have rallied nearly 70% since then. Third Point's other big positions in the third quarter include Danaher , PG & E, Disney, Amazon and Intuit. The filing also revealed that the hedge fund managers exited a slew of bets including Social Finance , JD Uber Technologies and Peloton. Loeb previously said SoFi and Uber were among his biggest losers in the third quarter.
