What the Club's watching Friday afternoon — including an example of Disney's pricing prowess

What we're watching Friday afternoon — Feb. 18, 2022 Abbott Laboratories (ABT) shares were getting hit Friday, a day after the company announced a voluntary recall of powder baby formulas at one of its manufacturing facilities. Abbott, in a filing Friday afternoon, reaffirmed its previously issued full-year 2022 guidance for adjusted earnings-per-share of at least $4.70 ... says it's still quantifying the total expense of the recall but do not expect a material impact. ABT should not be down this much on this and we are looking to buy ... Ford (F) shares, which have had a tough month, jumped Friday on a Bloomberg report saying the automaker is exploring separating its electric vehicle business from its internal combustion engine operations. We think Ford is undervalued but we're not a fan of pure financial engineering … the value will come out as it executes on their EV strategy ... Walt Disney World Resort in Florida is raising ticket prices for multiday passes … has this become one of the toughest tickets in town? It's a great sign of demand, and Disney (DIS) hasn't even gotten the full benefit from international visitors yet. Margins at the parks are incredible right now ... supporting earnings as the company continues to invest in content ... We're seeing a nice second day follow through rally for Cisco Systems (CSCO) after Wednesday night's terrific earnings report ... Not so much for Nvidia (NDVA) ... down Thursday and Friday after strong earnings but not-strong- enough guidance for Wall Street's insatiable appetite for better and better better .. but we want to own it for the upcoming GTC conference in March ...
