Bridal Gowns at 80% off to Support Local Non-Profit for Norristown Students

EAST NORRITON, Pa., Oct. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- On Saturday Nov. 3, 2012, Startin' School in Style (SSIS) will host a super-sale of designer wedding dresses, formal gowns and resort wear at 80% off to raise money for their charity that supports underprivileged adolescent girls. From 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., dresses will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis at the Hyatt House Hotel at 501 E. Germantown Pike in East Norriton, PA.

Earlier this year, a bank foreclosed a designer bridal shop in Philadelphia and chose SSIS as the recipient of over $200,000 worth of bridal inventory to support the foundation's cause. Approaching its tenth year in service, SSIS was founded when a Blue Bell teen, Anne Zapalac and her mother Melodye decided to make a difference in their neighboring community, Norristown, by collecting new and gently used clothing and accessories to create a "mall-like shopping experience" at the beginning of each school year for girls grades 5-12.

The Zapalac duo and SSIS team were overwhelmed with gratitude for their largest donation to-date and are excited for the opportunity to purchase more supplies for the girls.

"When the call first came in, I thought it was a hoax," explained Zapalac. "The stock includes almost 200 formal gowns and over 100 wedding gowns, some with huge trains and others sleek and elegant — every kind you could imagine. We must sell the entire inventory in one day because we have no place for storage, so this will be huge!"

SSIS accepts donations including new and gently used clothing, fashion accessories, backpacks, school supplies, tooth brushes, toothpaste and deodorant year-round.
