Cleveland Eye Clinic acquires Jacobs Eye Center

CLEVELAND, Oct. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Effective November 5, 2012, Cleveland Eye Clinic doctors will assume care for Jacobs Eye Center patients.

"Dr. Jacobs has been a well-respected friend and colleague of ours for many years. And, there is no doubt that she will be missed by her friends and by the Avon community at large," said Dr. William Wiley, Medical Director of the Cleveland Eye Clinic. K. Ann Jacobs, MD has decided after twenty-six years in Avon to return home to West Virginia to continue her work as a surgeon.

The Cleveland Eye Clinic was established in 1943, and also has offices in Elyria, Cleveland, Bedford, Brecksville, and Toledo. The practice is privately owned by its doctors. Dr. Jennifer Killian, the firm's staff optometrist will stay on board. Cleveland Eye Clinic doctors boast a 'patient-first' philosophy and feel this is more achievable without the big hospital politics of some other firms in the area.

The Cleveland Eye Clinic doctors excel in the management of all eye issues: Diabetes, Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma, Dry Eye, Pediatrics, Infections and Issues. Some of the most recent and most exciting innovations have been in the areas of Cataracts and LASIK.

The Cleveland Eye Clinic surgeons are some of the first in the area to perform Laser-Assisted Refractive Cataract Surgery. In addition to laser cataract surgery, Drs. Wiley and Bafna helped pioneer intraoperative aberrometry with the work they performed with the Wavetec ORA device which is the first device to use a modified laser to help choose the appropriate replacement lens and help assure the lens was correctly placed and positioned on the table before the patient leaves the operating room. These and other techniques have helped with precision and accuracy during cataract surgery.

The Cleveland Eye Clinic surgeons have also designed their own state-of-the-art LASIK facility. They were first in the region to perform all laser LASIK surgery with the intralase femtosecond laser. The procedures can be used for patients who are nearsighted, farsighted, those with astigmatism, and those who wear bifocals. The firm also performs Surface-Ablation, PRK, Intra-Ocular Lens Procedures, Implantable Contact Lenses, and Corneal Cross-Linking for Keratoconus.
