Johnson Electric Launches Motors for Automotive Emissions Control

HONG KONG, Oct. 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Johnson Electric today announced an EGR motor product line for automotive exhaust gas recirculation actuators. These new motors produce 30 percent higher torque without an increase in package size.

To meet the Euro 6 standard for lower emissions, a higher recirculation flow rate is required and more torque is necessary for fast and precise position control of the EGR actuator. To ensure reliable operation, the motors are designed to withstand ambient temperatures up to 160 degrees C and vibration of 50G.This innovative motor topology also provides higher EMC suppression. The EGR motors employ unique technology including magnetics, commutation and winding. The product line includes EMC suppression at CISPR 25 level 5.

"Improved exhaust gas recirculation technology reduces nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions," said Jim Dick, Johnson Electric's senior vice president of Strategic Marketing. "Planning for Euro 6 compliance is a key factor in new vehicle designs," he added.
