Harris Corporation’s Air Traffic Control Communication System in Bali, Indonesia Goes Live

WASHINGTON & GATINEAU, QC, Canada--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has completed installation, training and Site Acceptance Testing for its air traffic control system (ATC) installed at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, Indonesia. The announcement was made during the 57th Annual Air Traffic Control Association Conference and Exposition being held October 1-3 at the Gaylord National Resort and Conference Center in Washington, DC.

Harris supplied its Liberty-STAR™ Voice Communication and Control System (VCCS) to the Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali and the Sepinggan International Airport in Balikpapan. Liberty-STAR™ VCCS features a modular architecture, open-platform software and commercial-off-the-shelf hardware that delivers a reliable, scalable communications solution for ATC towers, airline and area control dispatch, flight service stations, and mobile shelters.

Harris installed the system at Ngurah Rai International Airport and provided operation and maintenance training for Indonesian air traffic controllers and technical staff. The Ngurah Rai International Airport is equipped with touch-screen operator positions, radio interfaces, telephone interfaces, and a System Maintenance, Administration and Reconfiguration Terminal (SMART) POSITION™.
