September Auto Sales: Chrysler

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Chrysler Group LLC said Tuesday that its September U.S. sales rose 12 percent, crediting strong demand for new models, low interest rates and a stable U.S. economy.

BY THE NUMBERS: The Auburn Hills, Mich.-based automaker said it sold 142,041 vehicles last month, up from 127,336 in the same month a year earlier. The automaker was the first to report sales on Tuesday.

TOP SELLERS: Chrysler sold 25,973 of its Ram pickup trucks in September, up 5.9 percent from a year earlier.

HOT MODELS: Combined sales of Jeep brand vehicles rose 10 percent on strong demand for its Patriot and Grand Cherokee models. Sales of the Fiat 500 jumped 51 percent to 4,176 vehicles.
