Tyrese Gibson, President of Voltron Recordz Inc., Joins in Celebration With The King Center, And The National Park Service Partner In Global Commemoration of The 50th Anniversary of MLK's 'I Have a Dream' Speech

NEW YORK, Oct. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The King Center and the National Park Service have announced a partnership for a global observance of the 50th anniversary of Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech and the 1963 March on Washington. The plans include a series of events during the next year, culminating in a celebration beginning August 24, 2013, and concluding on August 28, 2013, with commemorative events at both the Lincoln Memorial and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in Washington, D.C.

The "I Have a Dream" speech delivered by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., during the Great March on Washington of 1963," has been one of the most pivotal moments in American history, says Tyrese Gibson. "It is the intention of the King Family, the National Parks Service and myself to make the 50th Anniversary observance an inspiring, global and educational celebration, which renews Dr. King's challenge to create a nonviolent society in which justice, shared prosperity, brotherhood and sisterhood can flourish in America and throughout the world."

King, Chief Executive Officer of The King Center, said that the theme for the 50th anniversary observance of Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech is "Our World, His Dream: Freedom - It's Happening!" She added "As we prepare for the 50th Anniversary observance mobilization, I look forward to working with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, the organization my father served as co-founder and president when he delivered the 'I Have a Dream' speech." Many other national and international organizations will be invited in the months ahead to join in supporting the mobilization.
