Taiwan stocks flat; HTC limit-down after Q3 net

TAIPEI, Oct 9 (Reuters) - Taiwan stocks traded flat after a fall at the opening on Tuesday, while HTC

extended

losses to the maximum 7 percent allowed after posting a 79 percent fall in net profit in the third quarter, missing forecasts.

By 0109 GMT, the main TAIEX index

was down 2.7 points at 7,613.21, after ending down 0.97 percent in the previous session.

Electronics shares were flat. PC maker Quanta lost 2.43 percent after it said sales slipped 5.8 percent last month. Banking shares gained 0.71 percent. The Taiwan dollar was up by T$0.113 to trade at T$29.289.

Foreign investors were net buyers on Monday, bringing their total buying to T$9 billion this month.
