Heilind Stocking TE Connectivity's RTX Relay, Product Designed to Handle 320A Peak Inrush

WILMINGTON, Mass., Oct. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Heilind Electronics, the largest distributor of interconnect products in North America, is now stocking TE Connectivity's RTX relay. Representing TE Connectivity's newest addition to its successful RT inrush family, the RTX has been engineered to meet the requirements of IEC 60669-1, a standard characterized by high inrush currents and make/break capacities up to 16A/250VAC. With this level of switching capability, the RTX may be found suitable for a wide range of lighting controls, home automation systems and similar applications.

The RTX relay achieves its inrush capability by employing an innovative dual contact system that uses a TE flip-flop spring and a tungsten pre-make contact set to switch inrush currents up to 320A (peak). Loads are carried and broken using the relay's silver tin oxide contact set.

As the newest member of the RT inrush relay family, the RTX features a newly designed bistable magnetic system; and the one-coil or two-coil model provides a high level of energy efficiency. In addition, the relay's actuator was designed with contact opening capabilities to help open possible microwelds, thus extending the life of the relay.

Measuring just 29.1x12.7x16mm, the RTX is about half the size of conventional solutions on the market, giving it a space-saving advantage and making it an apt choice for today's more compact designs. The new TE Connectivity RTX relay is VDE approved, UL recognized, and RoHS compliant.

With the RTX, TE launches an innovative, high performance, high value RT inrush type relay.
