TBN's "Praise the Lord" Welcomes Scott Stapp of Multi-Platinum Rock Band Creed

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On October 11th Trinity Broadcasting Network's signature Praise the Lord program welcomes Scott Stapp, Grammy Award–winning leader of the multi-platinum rock band Creed. Considered among the most successful artists of the modern rock era, Stapp will speak with Praise the Lord hosts Matt and Laurie Crouch about his recently published, uncensored memoir Sinner's Creed (Tyndale House) which traces Stapp's path from the lifestyle of a rock superstar to the surrender of his life to Jesus Christ.

During Creed's decade of dominance and in the years following the band's breakup, Stapp struggled with the vices and problems prevalent in the entertainment business, including drug and alcohol addiction, a painful divorce, and even a highly publicized suicide attempt in 2006. Sinner's Creed is Stapp's first-hand account of growing up in a fundamentalist Christian home, the rise and fall of Creed, the pain, bondage, and hopelessness he faced in the midst of wealth and fame — and the mercy of God that ultimately led him to faith and freedom.

"God is there for us," Stapp said of his own faith pilgrimage, "but a lot of times we don't cry out until we're on our back, until we're in dire straits... I had to have hope that my life wasn't just a waste. I'll never be perfect. I'm a sinner, and at the end of the day that's my creed."

TBN Vice President Matt Crouch noted that Stapp's story is what faith in Christ is all about. "It's a perfect demonstration of how God's mercy is available to every individual, regardless of our circumstances or how far we think we've fallen," he said. "We're excited to share Scott's story of redemption with our Praise the Lord viewers.

See Creed's Scott Stapp on TBN's Praise the Lord program, October 11, at 7:00 p.m. (Pacific Time).
