Expect ‘significant’ September boost: Pro

The Federal Reserve appears unlikely to taper its $85 billion-per-month of asset purchases next month, sending stocks higher, OptionMonster's Jon Najarian said Monday.

"I think that we're not going to see the first tapering until October, so I think could actually have a pretty significant boost in September because of that," he said.

On CNBC's "Fast Money," Najarian said that tapering would see three to four months of "slack demand for mortgages."

Investors would start to come in off the sidelines in January, once the market shows signs of stabilizing, he added.

"We've shaken off any specter, I think, of the Fed coming in with their plan on September because of how weak the economy has been," Stephen Weiss of Short Hills Capital said.

That could lead stocks higher, he added.

Weiss, who previously that said he was sitting on more cash recently than he had been in a long time, started buying stocks late last week.

"The story about second-half recovery now seems to be fading, so I think it bought some time in terms of the taper," he said.

Mike Murphy of Rosecliff Capital said that he was focused on fundamentals, looking to buy "on a major pullback."

"If you don't get the taper, then I think financials do well," he said. "If we do get the taper, I think financials are going to be there to support an improving economy."
