How long is the wait for a new iPhone now?

Apple's new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus went on sale Friday, and demand was high.

As of 3:30 p.m. ET Friday, these are the estimated "available to ship" dates for each model of both phones, if ordered directly from Apple's online store.

Based on the number of carriers where day-of-launch delivery was still available, the most popular models appeared to be the 16 GB phones in gold and silver and the 128 GB model in gray. The least popular were apparently the 128 GB in gold and the 16 GB in gray.

For those trying to order directly from carriers, your luck may not be much better.

CNBC contacted each of the major carriers to check on wait times for an iPhone 6 Plus, and got these responses:

Delays were also mounting for the smaller iPhone 6 when ordered direct from carriers. Verizon reported a shipping date of Oct. 21 for 32 GB and 64 GB models, while AT&T reported shipping delays of 21 to 35 days.
