Fire breaks out at Amazon facility in Virginia

A facility being built for Amazon.com in northern Virginia caught fire on Friday morning, Amazon told CNBC.com. Nobody was injured in the fire as it was "quickly extinguished."

"It was not a production facility and caused no impact or risk of impact to operations," an Amazon spokeswoman said.

The fire initially broke out on the roof of the Ashburn, Virginia location, the Loudoun County Fire Department told CNBC. Workers on the roof quickly got away after the fire started. The emergency call came in around 10:12 a.m.

Ashburn sits about 30 miles from Washington, DC.

Amazon shares were largely unaffected following the news.
