Douglas Kass says 2007 will start “with a bang” with two $50 billion private-equity deals. In a rollicking look at what the coming year might bring, the founder and president of Seabreeze Partners Management detailed a series of “possible improbables” on "Squawk Box”.
Among his “long shots”:
-Takeover powerhouse Kohlberg Kravis Roberts will lead a syndicate to buy Caterpillar.
- Silver Lake Partners will spearhead a consortium to buy Texas Instruments.
- Goldman Sachs and Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway will announce a “going-private transaction” – though Kass did not specify detailas on the hypothetical deal.
Kass underscored that “these surprises are not intended to be predictions.”
