EasyJet Says Passenger Numbers Rose 11.2%

British budget airline easyJet said Monday that passenger numbers rose 11.2% in December compared with the same month a year earlier.

Load factor -- or the amount of capacity taken up -- increased, rising to 81.2% compared to 80.5% in December 2005, the company said.

The company said it carried a total 33.7 million passengers in 2006, up 11.1% on the previous year. Reveue rose 20.7% during the year to 1.67 billion pounds ($8.2 billion).

The airline's shares were up 2.3% at 667 pence ($1.93) in morning trading on the London Stock Exchange.
