Slideshow: International Motor Show, Geneva

From March 8th to the 18th, around 700,000 visitors from all five continents are expected to attend the 77th International Auto Show in Geneva, Switzerland.

A truly global show, this event draws the usual spectrum of automakers exhibiting their latest, but in Geneva, you get the cream of the European crop of designers with specialty design firms like Italy's Zagato and Pininfarina proudly showing off their breathtaking designs. Brilliance China, exhibiting its popular BC3, BS6 and BS4 models, plans to import 158,000 cars over the next five years through its European partner, HSO Motors Europe.

With an ever increasing spotlight on global warming - and in particular, alternative energy - it comes as no surprise that this year's show will heavily showcase auto makers who are aggressively developing alternative power technologies and better fuel efficiency.

Suburu R1e: (electric prototype)
These tiny city cars from Suburu can run on a battery that can be 80% recharged in just 15 minutes (quick cup of organic, decaf latte anyone?). Subaru plans to launch the car in markets that have short distance commuters.

Chevrolet Camaro: (prototype of the new coupé)
First unveiled at January's Detroit Auto Show, Chevrolet's latest Camaro coupé will no doubt wow the crowds in Geneva. In the spirit (and popularity) of muscle car design, this modern take on an American classic boasts a 6-litre V8 engine producing 400 bhp.

Edag LUV: (pickup concept)
Based on the Mercedes-Benz GL, this "Luxurious Utility Vehicle" from Germany engineering specialist Edag, makes its first appearance at the Geneva Auto Show. Designed with maritime touches - oiled teakwood on the hood, interior flooring and on the cargo area, this big but elegant four-wheel-drive LUV may cater mostly to American buyers.

Honda, a committed developer of hybrid technology, will be presenting the debut of the hybrid sport, a vehicle that features advanced hybrid technology while dutifully keeping in step with a stylish design and a fun driving experience.

Jaguar C-XF (concept car)
A newer, bolder, evocative design for Jaguar has come. Loaded with an enhanced version of Jaguar’s 4.2-litre supercharged V8 engine, producing over 420bhp and 500Nm of torque, this aggressively designed model will certainly restore the interests of Jaguar enthusiasts.

Russo-Baltique: Impression
The first model in 80 years, the revived Russian brand, which celebrates its 100th anniversary since the date of its foundation, Russo-Baltique showcases the Bat-mobile-esque "Impression." This futuristic, four-seated coupé, loaded with a V12 engine producing 555hp, is ready for a limited-series production of 10-15 cars and will run you 50 million rubles (approx. $1.8 million).

Toyota FT-HS Hybrid Sports Concept
The next Supra? Unveiled first at the Detroit auto show in January, this two-door sport coupé powered by a 400-horsepower hybrid powertrain can do zero to sixty in about four seconds (maybe it's time to trade in the Prius).

Peugeot ePure: (concept)
In response to the growing concern over emissions, Peugeot has come up with a concept car that functions with a hydrogen fuel cell that supplies an electric motor. According to Toyota, the environmentally safe ePure with its "Genepac 20" technology, creates no pollution.

Maserati Gran Turismo
Pininfarina, the Italian design, engineering and manufacturing wonder team presents the world debut of the Maserati Gran Turismo. Under the hood sits a 4.2-liter V-8 delivering 405 hp. Expect prices to be somewhere in the $125,000 to $135,000 neighborhood.

BMW owned Rolls Royce proudly displays the drop-jaw Drophead Coupé. Packed with a Phantom faithful 6.75L V12 engine, which generates 453 horsepower and 513 lb-ft of torque at 3500 rpm, can glide 0 to 60 mph in approximately 5.7 seconds. (Approx. $407,000)
