Stocks: Which Ones Are Paying Off...And Not

Hi folks. Here a look at the latest stock performance. Quick turnarounds seem to be paying off for several stocks, but obvioulsy,not all. Downgrades and business news (see Beazer Homes below) certainly affect what's happening. Note the "replacements" at the S&P in the first paragraph. Okay, here are the stats with some notes on why the stocks are where they are.

The best performing trades by % gain from Tuesday's close to Wednesday's close:
Crystallex International: If you bought on Tuesday at $3.05 and held/sold on Wednesday with a close of $3.93, the contestant gained 28.85% on the trade.The Canadian company said Gold Reserve's environmental permit portends well for its own application in Venezuela.
HB Fuller : If you bought on Tuesday at $25.53 and held/sold on Wednesday with a close of $28.40, the contestant gained 11.24%. Reported earnings on 3/27.
Spartan Stores: If you bought on Tuesday at $24.85, and held/sold on Wednesday with a close of $27.20, the contestant gained 9.46%. S&P announced that SPTN will replace Carreker Corp in the S&P 600 after the close on Friday.
Thoratec Corp: If you bought on Tuesday at $19.40 and held/sold Wednesday with a close of $21.17, the contestant made 9.12%. A favorable study came out on its HeartMate II device that helped 133 heart failure patients survive until they received a heart transplant or for 180 days.
Blackbaud: If you bought on Tuesday at $22.32 and held/sold Wednesday with a close of $24.21, the contestant made 8.47%. S&P announced that BLKB will replace Phillips-Van Heusen in the S&P 600 after the close on Friday.

Worst Performing Trades By % Gain from Tuesday's close to Wednesday's close:
AngioDynamics: If you bought on Tuesday at $22.60 and held/sold on Wednesday with a close of $17.92, you lost 20.71%. A patent infringement verdict and it then swung to a fiscal third-quarter loss and also warned it may miss its fourth-quarter earnings target.
Sigma Designs: If you bought on Tuesday at $30.36 and held/sold on Wednesday with a close of $27.08 you lost 10.80%. Got an analyst downgrade.
CV Therapeutics: Tuesday, CVTX was your top performing trade with almost an 18% gain, but if you bought on Tuesday at $7.96 and held/sold on Wednesday with a close of $7.29 you lost 8.42%. Got an analyst downgrade from hold to sell by Citi.
Beazer Homes: If you bought on Tuesday at $31.41 and held/sold on Wednesday with a close of $28.77 you lost 8.40%. Not a big surprise with the announced fraud investigation of its mortgage-lending unit.
