Analysts Offer Top Tech Stocks

The Nasdaq is at a six-year high -- and the tech sector is on a roll. Scott Kessler, Standard & Poor’s equity analyst and Tara Hedlund, security analyst and portfolio manager with Turner Investment Properties, joined CNBC’s Liz Claman on “Morning Call” with their tech picks.

“We especially like the communication equipment area,” said Kessler. “We are looking at companies benefiting from the continuing competition in telecom and cable getting into the video space.” Kessler likes Amdocs, Harris, and Nice Systems. “It’s a tough time to be overweighted in the tech sector,” said Kessler.

Hedlund believes the semiconductor sector is currently undervalued. “Some of the areas within technology that we like are Internet infrastructure, semiconductors and the wireless sector,” said Hedlund. She likes Leap Wireless International and Cogent Communications Group. “Cogent Communications carries 15% of all Internet traffic and overall, Internet traffic is growing 75% year-over-year, so clearly the company is gaining market share,” said Kessler.
