U.K. satellite TV provider BSkyB has not sold its 17.9% stake in broadcaster ITV and has no immediate plans to do so, people familiar with the situation said.
ITV shares had surged more than 6% on Friday on speculation by traders that BSkyB had sold the stake to pan-European broadcaster RTL Group, which is owned by German media conglomerate Bertelsmann.
BSkyB, ITV and RTL declined to comment.
