A consortium of European banks seeking to buy ABN Amro said on Tuesday it had increased its stake in the Dutch bank to 3.25%.
The banks Royal Bank of Scotland, Spain's Santander and Belgian-Dutch group Fortis said they had bought 40.76 million ABN Amro shares on Friday and Monday at an average price of 33.81 euros.
