Suedzucker Increases Full-Year Operating Profit Forecast

Suedzucker raised its guidance for its current 2007/2008 financial year on Thursday after forecast-beating sales and earnings results in the second quarter.

Europe's largest sugar maker said it expected operating profit of at least 210 million euros ($296.6 million) this financial year, compared with a range of 120 to 160 million euros expected earlier.

Operating profit in the second quarter was 66.8 million euros, below the 122.7 million euros a year earlier but above the average forecast in a Reuters poll of 50 million euros.

Sales rose 2.2% to 1.48 billion euros in the second quarter, above the poll average of 1.33 billion euros.
