Boeing named Pat Shanahan as vice president and general manager of the 787 program, succeeding Mike Bair, who will become vice president of business strategy and marketing for commercial airplanes, both effective immediately.
Shanahan was earlier vice president, missile defense systems at Boeing Integrated Defense Systems, the company said in a statement.
On Oct. 10, the company said it had pushed back the first deliveries of its 787 Dreamliner by at least six months, citing difficulties in assembling the new lightweight carbon-composite planes.
