IMAX Signs 100-Theater Deal with AMC

IMAX, a giant-screen movie-maker, said Friday it signed a 100-theater deal to install digital projection systems at AMC Entertainment multiplex theaters in the United States.

It said the first 50 will begin in July, 2008 with the rest scheduled for roll-out over the following two years of the joint venture.

Mississauga, Ontario-based IMAX, whose shares are 25 percent off March peaks, said the deal is projected to double its commercial footprint in North America.

Kansas City, Missouri-based AMC, which filed for an initial public offering in September, operates 358 theatres with 5,128 screens in six countries.
