Next Week's Big Mover – Healthcare

Some call it the Super Bowl of healthcare. We’re talking about the JP Morgan Healthcare Conference kicking off Monday and it could move stocks.

Perhaps the most followed event of its kind the JP Morgan Health Care Conference kicks off Monday January 12th in San Francisco.

More than 300 companies, both public and private, come together to deliver presentations to more than 3,500 investors.

It’s a lot of information but here’s what the Fast Money traders and CNBC’s Mike Huckman recommend keeping an eye on.

Roche & Genentech

Huckman recommends keeping a eye on Roche and Genetech. As you may know Genentech shares rose Friday after a published report said Swiss drugmaker Roche was preparing to sweeten its offer to buy the portion of the U.S. biotechnology giant it does not already own.

The Financial Times' Alphaville web site said Roche was preparing to offer about $95 per share, likely ahead of its release of its year-end financial report in early February.

If the deal happens, Roche could win billions of dollars in cancer drug revenue as well as strong R&D. And both are presenters at the conference.

Pete Najarian speculates the current offer might not be enough.

Other Names To Watch

According to Huckman this conference has really made its reputation on small cap biotechs. He thinks investors should look for bio-medical diamonds in the rough.

And the best way to play it is with the SPDR S&P Biotech , or iShares NASDAQ Biotechnology Index, explains Karen Finerman.

In addition, Huckman also thinks there could be news out of Genzyme , Celgene and Amgen three other presenters. They could re-affirm their guidance, or provide color on Q4 revenue which would, in turn, move their stocks, he says.
