Is the public option really dead?
Last night I interviewed John Kyl of Arizona, the Senate’s Republican whip, to get his take on the matter.
Kyl — who also serves on the Senate Finance Committee — voted to reject the public option.
He calls it “a solution looking for a problem,” and thinks it will ultimately come up short.
He also believes there will be some substitute for the public option that most Democrats will rally around once it fails.
