Toyota had a bad couple of months recently. Their worries began in November 2009, when almost 4 million vehicles were recalled due to problems with the accelerator pedal. The recall was amended soon after to include a brake override, not once but twice. Finally, in February 2010, the company issued three separate recalls in the space of four days due to flaws in the braking system. Company president Akio Toyoda testified before congress and then offered a tearful apology to employees in Washington D.C., but it remains to be seen if it helped the company regain the trust that it lost among consumers.

The vast majority of Toyota owners who encountered problems walked away from their vehicles shaken, but alive.
