Trading The Globe: China

All week we’re talking with the most influential traders that specialize in BRIC nations. On day 3 of this series we look at China.

Of all the BRIC nations, none makes headlines more regularly than China. In the news on Wednesday, there’s chatter that Beijing may be ready to revalue the yuan.

The flames of speculation are being fanned by Secretary Geithner’s trip to Beijing on Thursday in which he will meet with Vice Premier Wang Qishan.

Although the administration gave no details of the agenda, it’s widely believed the decision to hold such a high-level encounter suggests Washington and Beijing are moving toward settling the currency dispute.

Considering all the rapid developments, it’s critical for an investor to be nimble. And few investors are more nimble than Richard Kang, CIO and Director of Research at Emerging Global Advisors; he manages $100 million in China.

Kang tells us he's broadly bullish on China and a buyer of dips though he feels the nation is now more of a consumer play. If you're looking for a trade “Look at Jiangxi Copper,” he counsels.

“I like playing China with PetroChina , and China Petroleum,” adds Tim Seymour.
