GREENWICH, Conn., May 10, 2010 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Nestle Waters North America today announced details about the company's donation of clean drinking water to disaster relief efforts in communities affected by the storms and subsequent flooding which struck several southern states last week.

Already, the company has worked with organizations such as FEMA, American Red Cross, Feed the Children and Gleaning For The World to deliver more than 1.7 million bottles of water to those most in need.

"With the exception of Hurricane Katrina, I can't remember a time when we received more requests for bottled water," said Ronald Davidson, President and Founder of Gleaning For The World. "We are distributing water to Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee, and we're grateful for the generosity and support of the Nestle Waters brands." "We are proud to have had the opportunity and ability to aid communities affected by last week's flooding," said Tony Dexter, Plant Manager of the Nestle(R) Pure Life(R) facility Red Boiling Springs. "Access to clean drinking water is vital in instances when normal supply is temporarily limited or unavailable, and Nestle Waters remains committed to working with government agencies and relief organizations to help ensure access quickly to those most in need." The company's donation included products from Nestle Waters' Nestle(R) Pure Life(R) purified water and the Poland Spring(R) spring water brands.
