Syniverse CEO After Earnings Beat

Syniverse Holdings , a technology and services provider, reported a $22.6 million profit, or 32 cents per share, on revenue of $158.8 million.

While speaking on Monday's Fast Money, CEO Tony G. Holcombe comments that the company's biggest strength is in roaming and messaging. A large part of what the Tampa, Fla.-based company does is forwarding and clearing text messages and other data for cell phone users who are outside of their coverage area.

Ten percent of revenues come from two large clients, namely Verizon Communications and Sprint Nextel , says Holcombe. Contracts with those wireless carriers expire in 2011, but Holcombe says the company is in the process of renewing them.

Moving forward, Holcombe says the company is focused on integrating acquisitions successfully. The company is working on expanding into Germany and China. At the same time, he says Syniverse trying to grow its market share across all three of its business segments.

What's the Trade?

"This is a stock that's had double-digit growth," says Joe Terranova of Vitrus Investment Partners. "It's going to see double-digit growth going forward for the next three years."

Terranova said it's success has come by way of wireless carriers introducing high-end devices. Another driver for this company, notes Brian Kelly of Kanundrum Capital, is if they are able to integrate into India.

EAR TO THE WALL: THE SMARTPHONE TRADE

Google's Andoid beat Apple's iPhone in terms of market share in the first half of 2010, according to new data from Nielsen Research, which put the Droid phone at 27% and the Mac device at 23%.

Steve Grasso of Stuart Frankel still thinks Apple's phone is the one to beat going forward. Those to buy an Apple product become addicted to the product line, he says.

But unlike Grasso, Brian Kelly of Kanundrum Capital is not willing to bet the farm on Apple. Kelly says Google gives users the ability to create their own applications for the device and he thinks it could be a "game changer."
