TABLE-Greece revises 2004-2009 GDP figures

Nov 12 (Reuters) - Greece's statistics service (ELSTAT) on Friday revised gross domestic product (GDP) figures for the period 2004-2009 as part of a regular, annual makeover of its data. The new figures reveal significantly lower GDP growth in 2008, with the country entering recession in the fourth quarter of that year, three months earlier than previously believed. Greece's economy has been shrinking for nine consecutive quarters in the wake of the global credit crunch and its home-grown debt crisis. Below is a table with the new annual GDP change figures since 2004. In brackets are the revised GDP figures. ************************************************************ YEAR Real GDP growth (pct, y/y) 2004 +4.4 (n/a) 2005 +2.3 (+2.3) 2006 +4.5 (+4.5) 2007 +4.3 (+4.5) 2008 +1.3 (+2.0) 2009 -2.3 (-2.0) -------------------------------------------------------- source: ELSTAT (Reporting by Harry Papachristou) Keywords: GREECE GDP/REVISION (harry.papachristou@thomsonreuters.com; +30 210 3376455; Reuters Messaging: harry.papachristou.reuters.com@reuters.net) COPYRIGHT Copyright Thomson Reuters 2010.
